Connector reliability test items and their testing standards

Connector testing generally involves the following items: plug test, durability test, insulation resistance test, vibration test, mechanical impact test, thermal shock test, mixed gas corrosion test.

Connector specific test items are as follows:

(A) connector insertion force test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-13

Purpose: To verify whether the connector plugging force meets the product specifications.

Principle: The connector at the required rate fully inserted or pulled out, record the corresponding force value.
The company is located in:
(B) connector durability test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-09

Purpose: To assess the impact of repeated plug on the connector, simulate the actual use of the connector plug situation.

Principle: In accordance with the provisions of the rate of continuous plug connectors until the specified number of times.

(C) connector insulation resistance test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-21

Purpose: To verify whether the insulation performance of the connector meets the requirements of the circuit design or withstand environmental stress such as high temperature and humidity, and whether the resistance meets the requirements of the relevant technical conditions.

Principle: Apply a voltage to the insulating part of the connector so as to cause the leakage current to appear on the surface or inside of the insulating part.
The company is located in:
(D) connector withstand voltage test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-20

PURPOSE: To verify that a connector is safe at rated voltage and capable of withstanding over-potential, to evaluate the suitability of connector insulation or insulation gap.

Principle: between the connector contacts and contacts, contacts and the shell between the provisions of the voltage and maintain the specified time, observe whether the sample breakdown or discharge phenomenon.
The company is located in:
(E) connector contact resistance test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-06 / EIA-364-23

Purpose: To verify the value of the resistance that occurs when current flows through the contact surface of the contact.

Principle: By specifying the current through the connector and measuring the voltage drop across the connector, the resistance is obtained.
The company is located in:
(F) connector vibration test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-28

Purpose: To verify the effect of vibration on the performance of electrical connectors and their components.

Vibration Type: Random vibration, sinusoidal vibration.
The company is located in:
(Seven) connector mechanical impact test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-27

Purpose: To verify the impact resistance of connectors and their components or to assess the robustness of the structure.

Test Waveforms: Half Sine, Square Wave.
The company is located in:
(H) connector thermal shock test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-32

Purpose: To assess the effect of a connector on its functional quality under rapid changes in temperature.
The company is located in:
(Ix) connector temperature and humidity combination cycle test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-31

Purpose: To evaluate connector performance after connector has been stored in a hot and humid environment.
The company is located in:
(Ten) connector high temperature test

Reference Standard: EIA-364-17

Purpose: To assess whether the performance of terminals and insulators has changed after a specified time when the connector is exposed to high temperatures.
